Hi guys! Feeling a bit down and hoping for some advice. I'm coming to the end of week 2 of GG - I've followed the food part of the programme pretty accurately (about 80-90% of the time, but had a couple of meals out) but have been under the weather and really busy at work so haven't done any of the workouts, just a bit of yoga. Weighed myself this morning and I've gained 4 lbs! I'm devastated. I know weight loss isn't the main goal of the programme but I also didn't think I'd eat so much healthier and put on weight. Not sure what to do! It feels at times like the portions are huge and I'm eating a lot more than I normally would so maybe that's why? Has anyone else had this? Should I start again at week 1? Help! x

Which week are you on nkirby? Hopefully we'll both see results soon - in the meantime let's focus on enjoying the food and not being too self-critical (easier said than done!!) Totally agree Abygail - we need to be kind to ourselves...and hide scales 😂 xx

I think that's a big part of the journey. Letting go of food paranoia, portion guilt and the scales obsession and focusing on good health and nutrition instead. I asked my husband to hide the scales in the end! It's a tough one for us women in the world we live in but it's so important. It's too easy to make ourselves unhappy over our weight and our bodies.

Wow! Feel completely overwhelmed by your lovely supportive messages! 😘So so good to know that others have had similar experiences. I'm feeling more positive already 😀 Going to keep going and focus on nourishing and looking after my body rather than criticising it for not being as slim as I'd like. Thanks everyone xx

Hi Katie, I had the same thing last week when I wasn't well enough to do the exercises but stuck to the food plan & meditations. My weight can fluctuate up to 5lbs during a week, for no apparent reason, so I understand your frustration! But I'm in week 2 as well now & back on the exercise plan, and I've noticed my jeans are looser & I'm less bloated - even though I haven't lost any weight. We've still got another 6 weeks & transformations take time as the body adjusts, so stick with it & hopefully you'll get the results you want.
On the portion sizes, I'm also finding them huge, so have just been serving a normal plate size & often freeze the leftovers, which will come in handy when short on time. Good luck! 😊

Whilst I really want (and need) to lose some weight (about a stone) I've decided that I am going to look at how my clothes feel and take measurements too because the weight isn't coming off very quickly.
I wonder if (for me) it's from years, and I mean years, of dieting, the body not knowing what it's doing. I'm trying to look 5 months down the road of this eating and exercise.
Hope this helps X
I love this clean way of eating and will continue this way 😊

I started to eat smaller portions as I had the same problem and felt really full after each meal. I just eat until I am not hungry anymore.

My mum and I both put weight on in the fist couple of weeks but am now starting to loose it. When starting a diet you tend to put weight on because your body holds on to fat. Don't be disheartened just keep doing what you're doing and you'll be fine

Scales aren't accurate. They don't tell you your water retention and muscle fat and body fat . Try not to worry your most likely be losing inches like myself it's taken week 3 to loose 6lbs but mum could tell I've lost it by seeing me in my clothes and I could definitely feel my close looser and my body lighter

Hey! I know when I was about half way through week two I had gained a couple and felt quite bloated so was in the same position!

I think just keep going, I'm now near end of week 5 and have definitely started to lose it. I think when making big changes in eating our bodies take time to adjust, but this is just what I found..

Hope you feel better soon and make sure you take some time out for you- it's the most important thing! Keep going, it will be worth it 😘😘
