Hey girls! A bit of a strange predicament here- looking for some advice! I'm an English teacher out in South Korea and I get a school lunch provided every day. Some days the lunch is great, and really healthy, but a lot of the time it's a bit questionable! I really want to start taking my own lunch but I know my coteachers will be a bit funny with it, especially seeing as it's one of the only times we really integrate each day. Plus, they are super proud of their Korean food and think it can cure all illnesses!! What would you guys do? Be a big bravr girl and say what you want to say/ do what you want to do? Or just put up with it for one meal a day. i only have 6 months left on my contract and 3 months term time left (I only need to eat lunch during term time.) So much awkwardness, please help with advice and potential excuses lol. Thanks girls, you're always amazing and so helpful!

You could as well give the "allergy" excuse. I've travelled to several places where it's hard to explain in veggie and harder not to eat a particular meal. Saying you're allergic to the ingredients has helped me in some cases!

That's a really difficult situation & I sympathise! Some people can react very strangely when you're trying to be healthy and seem to take offence & want to sabotage your efforts. I've come across this amongst 'friends'! 😬 (Maddy has a good paragraph about sabotage in her book & how to handle it). I'd suggest you make your own lunches & if people challenge you then just smile & say that you're trying really hard to be healthy. You don't need to justify yourself and if they take offence then they're not going to be real friends anyway. Good luck! 😊

I'm living in Sarajevo, Bosnia and it's the same here!! Burek is one of the national dishes- basically fried pastry filled with diced meat!! 😱

Thanks for your suggestion and support! ♡♡♡ I appreciate it so much :) I think I'll be strong and tell them I want to eat my own lunch. We actually need to pay for the school lunch so I don't want just eat bits then prepare something else. Makes most sense just to fully prepare my own. I hope they understand and aren't too offended!! xxxx

Maybe you could do half of each? Like have there lunch and pick what you want from it but have a small lunch box with some extras in it too?

Hiya
I think I would be strong and tell them that it's a healthy plan that you are embarking on. Or maybe do half and half.
You can still integrate with everyone the same. You deffo don't want to alienate yourself though so follow your heart.
