Question for the Q &A - why is natural sugar from maple syrup or coconuts better than refined sugar? I know that the body will still react to any sugar in the body but haven't quite got my head around the benefits?

Hello gorgeous!! Maple syrup and coconut sugar have vitamins and minerals that the body loves and so the sugar content is absorbed at a much lower rate and won't spike your sugar levels and give you an energy crash! This type of sugar is fine in moderation and won't affect your blood sugar levels xxxx

Oh I know that white sugar is processed but was just trying to understand whether natural sugar is that much better. I guess I am partial to sweet treats so wanted to understand whether it is ok to make some of the treats with the natural sugars or Ombar with the coconut sugar.... Or whether actually any of these sugars still have basically the same bad effect on the body despite being natural.

Thanks had a read. So I guess some nutritional content...slightly better GI. But overall still shouldn't eat too much off as still sugar. I guess when I see some of the recipes that use sugar substitutes I was just just trying to work out whether by swapping all was good or whether still a bit of a treat.

Check http://draxe.com/maple-syrup-nutrition/ this out it explains well. Basically maple syrup and coconut sugar contain vitamins and minerals which are useful for health. They are also lower GI than sugar. X X read the article X
