Hey All! Question: could I replace maple syrup with agave one? The data on Internet is controversial.

Would Madeleine recommend using agave syrup at all?

Thank you! Xxx

Hello beautiful!! I don't recommend agave as it's highly refine and has a super high level of GI so spikes your blood sugar levels. Instead I use raw honey, maple syrup and coconut sugar as they are lower GI xxxx

Hey ladies, agave actually is not the best option--it has tons of fructose (some say a higher percentage than high fructose corn syrup) and therefore instead of affecting your blood sugar, it gets digested in the liver which can cause a lot of burden over time. We need happy and strong livers!! Fruit also has fructose and maple syrup does too but at a lower % and especially fruit has fiber and lots of nutrients that help the digestion of the fructose. Maple syrup has glucose and fructose (in a lesser amount than agave) and minerals and vitamins that make it better for us in small amounts. I'd say the other option for a sub would be raw honey. Hope this isn't too confusing !

From previous posts on here I gathered that it's not so good for us and better to avoid it. Xx

Hi Pincess! Thank you.

What I read is that agave nectar is full of fructose that is supposedly bad for you and also that it is highly processed.

However others are saying that agave is low in GI and syrup is extracted at low temp hence it is as processed as maple syrup.

See? I am confused. ☺️😀☺️😳
