I'm suffering with really bad back pain when doing yoga particularity back bends! Then for a coupe of hours after I get a real achy low back :( can anyone offer some advice on to how to avoid this? Even leaving out back bends i find my back aches xx

Hello lovely, if you're experiencing pain take it easy on the back bends as you don't want to harm yourself and yoga should flow easily. Maybe see a physio to get some expert opinion xx

Yoga looks gentle but it does do a lot to your body and doing poses incorrectly can cause injury. Anyway you could get to class with an instructor who could physically look at what you are doing and advise?

Maybe a physiotherapy appt would be helpful. I went to see one with hip and low back pain after giving birth and she told me I was lopsided so even when I thought I was doing postures correct, eg bridge, she was able to help with which muscles to contract more and less and I was able to get stronger and back pain much less.

Hmm it's low back pain rather than ache. I only get it when doing yoga X

Nothing in yoga should hurt. I would avoid the back bends (some people it doesn't suit) achy is ok and maybe part of the strengthening of muscles.

Yes I've been doing lots of yoga for a while now. I've never suffered with back pain and feel like the yoga sets it off...?

Hi, have you done yoga before? Maybe try to stretch your muscles really well before doing yoga or you should see a doctor about it? X
