Dear Glow friends, I've been offline for ages as my father has been very ill since November and died 2 weeks ago. I really need to start looking after myself and fulfill my aim to get healthy. So I'm hoping for some words of encouragement/advice/inspiration xxx

I've just seen this post as I haven't been on here for ages, I'm so sorry for your loss @lithie . I can't imagine what you're going through, it must be the hardest thing in the world. I hope you're ok and being gentle with yourself, and giving yourself all the time and space you need to process everything. If you need to chat or vent we are all here! Sending big hugs xx

Thanks so much @Agnesl that's invaluable advise. I am currently on holiday and trying to take your advise by going out to the bakers on the bike then jumping in the pool when we get back. Just going to search out a good steak in Montpellier

Hey Lithie! I've been off Glow Guides for ages too, as I also lost my beloved Dad 4 months ago today. It has been the toughest time in my life, but the things that have helped me are:
1. Going out for walks, just get out of the house, appreciate nature .
2. I started doing exercise pretty much every day. This has been a massive help! I downloaded C25k App, I never did any running in my entire life and could run for max 2 mins. After 9 weeks of training, I can now run 5k! Achieving this was a really big booster of positive energy!
I'm also doing a weight training programme for women. I can't highlight enough how much a commitment like this helps going through the mourning process.
3. Don't hold the tears in. When you need to cry, cry. Let it out.
4. If you have someone to talk to, do so. Express your emotions.

Hope this helps, sending a big hug! Xxx

Thank you so much for all of your kind words. I shopped from the week one shopping list on Monday and although that was my worst day so far it's been a huge relief not to have to plan my meals and to know I'm getting healthy nutritious food. Another big thank you to for this wonderful community xxx

I'm so sorry for your loss. These are all great ideas given above. I think having the Glow Guides routine might be really helpful at this time but I would say don't put too much pressure on yourself to stick to things rigidly. As @veece123 said be kind to yourself, you have been through a lot. xx

So sorry to hear that, I know how hard it is to loose a parent, caring for someone is mentally emotionally and physically draining. You need to replenish your energy stores, take it really slowly and be kind to your self, your still grieving ❤

Hi Lithie. Im very sorry for your loss. I read this yesterday and have been trying to think about how I would feel and what would make a difference, maybe the trick is to start small and do one thing each day that makes you feel good and is a step in the direction of your goal; a relaxing walk with the dog or a recipe you really enjoy making or a ten minute meditation? not sure but hope it helps and I've no doubt you can do this! Believe and achieve xxx
